In this ritual, called Sadaqa, young memorizers of the Quran along with men of the city holding wooden tablet with verses of the Quran on them walk to the Sidi Othman mosque of the city.
There, they recite verses from the Holy Book and pray for rain, according to Zaio News.
The last time the ritual had been led in the city was 42 years ago, in 1981.
